YOUTH CAMP - Eventbrite banner.png

Hello Parents,

Not long to go until we head away to camp. We look forward to hanging out and having fun with your young people.

We are keeping a close watch on the weather forecast, flooding and road closures in the Barrington area. A decision will be made and communicated on Friday if we decide to postpone. But, for the moment, we are going ahead. The forecast for the area shows the rain easing over the coming days.

Since we are hopeful the camp will go ahead, please see below for helpful and important camp information.

Transport:

We are blessed to be using one of Coast's school buses and drivers to transport us to and from camp. The bus seats 24 and is fitted with seatbelts.

DEPARTURE

Please meet Saturday morning in the Church car park at 6:45 am for a 7:00 am departure.

When dropping off, please let the leaders know if your child suffers from travel sickness.

If you are running late or your child is no longer able to attend due to illness, please get in touch with Abbi Markey on 0424 424 271

We do not have any planned stops during the trip. Please ensure your child/ren has had breakfast before getting on the bus. We will be serving morning tea as soon as we arrive at the camp.

Please give any prescription medication to Abbi Markey (see below for more info).

ARRIVAL

We plan to be back at Bensville by 5:00 pm on Monday the 11th.

If there are any changes to the expected arrival time, leaders will send a text message to parents.

Please contact Abbi Markey (number above) if you will be late for pick up.

  • Adequate warm clothes (for 3 days/2 nights)

  • Jacket or Coat

  • Gumboots (it will be muddy)

  • Rain Coat

  • PJ's

  • Spare clothes for messy games

  • Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, hair brush, shampoo & conditioner etc.)

  • Towel

  • Sleeping bag (Provided are pillows, pillowcases and sheets)

  • Bible

  • Plastic bag for dirty clothes

NB. The weather forecast suggests that we will have temperatures between 3°c - 16°c and possibly rain (please factor this in when packing). The lodge has heating in each room.

Prescription Medication:

Please print and complete the attached form if your child requires prescription medication while we are away. Please bring the medication (in its packaging with the pharmacy label containing name and dose information) along with the completed consent form in a snap-lock bag and give it to Abbi Markey before getting on the bus.

For safety reasons, we cannot allow prescription medications to be kept in the lodge rooms except asthma medication. However, leaders will ensure medications are taken as directed and with discretion.

Phones & Devices:

The Barrington River Lodge has no mobile reception. Youth may bring their devices to use on the bus to and from the camp. Once we arrive, we will ask them to place their devices in a phone box for the duration of the camp. Leaders will be doing the same.

We have digital cameras to capture all the action.

We realise this might be a big deal for some of our youth, and we would appreciate your support by chatting to your child/ren about this and putting them at ease before we head away.
